Gemma Arterton and Jason Flemyng star in this romantic drama based on the novel by Posy Simmonds. Village baker Martin Joubert (Fabrice Luchini) has an obsession with the Gustave Flaubert novel 'Madame Bovary' so when a young English couple move into the village, he is delighted to learn their names are Gemma and Charles Bovery (Arterton and Flemyng). As he gets to know the Boverys he realises that their lives are running in parallel to those of the characters in his favourite novel and when Gemma embarks upon a passionate affair, Martin fears his new friend is heading for a tragic end like that of her namesake.
French horror directed by Georges Franju. After his daughter Christiane (Edith Scob) is horribly disfigured in a car accident he caused, plastic surgeon Dr. Génessier (Pierre Brasseur) is driven mad with guilt. As atonement, the doctor, aided by his loyal assistant Louise (Alida Valli), kidnaps young women, takes them to his secret laboratory and surgically removes their faces with the hope of grafting them on to his daughter's ruined features and restoring her former beauty. But will Christiane allow him to succeed in his dangerous experiments?
Collection of films directed by acclaimed French film-maker Leos Carax. The thriller 'The Night is Young' (1986), follows petty thief and street hustler Alex (Denis Lavant) plotting to steal a new miracle cure for an AIDS-like virus on behalf of his gangster friend Marc (Michel Piccoli), attracting the notice of a mysterious American woman who also wants the serum. In 'Holy Motors' (2012), Lavant stars as the man of many identities Monsieur Oscar. Driven around Paris by his chauffeur Celine (Edith Scob), Oscar makes use of an elaborate dressing room in his limousine to assume the identity of a number of different characters. At various points throughout the journey he appears as a businessman, a beggar, an assassin, a father and an old woman and in each disguise steps out of his limousine to engage with the world while embarking on bizarre adventures that include kidnapping a beautiful model, Kay (Eva Mendes). But what exactly lies at the root of Oscar's extraordinary behaviour? 'Boy Meets Girl' (1984) is the darkly comic love story which involves two strangers (Lavant and Mireille Perrier) who are destined to meet after their relationships break down. The collection also contains the documentary exploration of writer and director Carax, entitled 'Mr X' (2014).
